Benton Sans is a digital typeface family that started in 1995 by Tobias Frere-Jones and later developed by Cyrus Highsmith of Font Bureau. It is inspired by the sans-serif typefaces for American Type Founders created by Morris Fuller Benton at the turn of the twentieth century in industrial or grotesque style. It was a new font created from Benton Gothic for several corporate clients with the assistance of Frere-Jones.
